Sr. Accounting Clerk

SUMMARY:
Prepares and keeps financial and business transaction data current, applying accepted procedures, and prepares reports to ensure accurate accounting records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Maintains accounting records for Farm Employers Labor Service (FELS)

Maintains FELS customer records: FELS subscribers, Labor Management Consultant clients (new and revised contracts), and customers that purchase products

Processes product sales orders

Prepares recurring and one-time invoices

Processes payments on invoices

Prepares deposits of cash receipts and maintains all accounting records relating to accounts receivable

Prepares monthly journal entries

Prints general ledger and reconciles to sub-ledgers or off-system schedules

Tracks all bonus activity for FELS Labor Management Consultants

Prepares journal entries to record accruals and payments of bonuses

Maintains FELS inventory item records: additions, price changes, deletions

Other tasks as necessary

SPECIFICATIONS:
Part-time position requires 20 hours per week. Ability to work a schedule of 4 hours per day between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday required.

Associates Degree or higher in Accounting preferred

Minimum 2-5 years work experience in accounting

Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Experience working within Great Plains accounting software or equivalent program preferred

Ability to accurately and efficiently perform 10-key by touch

Controller

SUMMARY:
Directs and manages the organization's accounting functions. Responsible for the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and maintaining a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Oversee the operations of the Accounting, Membership Services Departments, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the departments' goals and objectives

Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

Administer the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, including their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policy and procedures

Oversee ongoing Information Technology projects in areas of responsibility

Establish relations with banks and other financial institutions

Manage the preparation of all tax filings, including the preparation of several non-profit tax returns

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Issue timely, accurate and complete monthly financial statements for organization's several entities

Ensure that investment activity is reported accurately

Assist with the production of the annual budget and monthly analysis

Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

Provide financial analyses, as needed

Responsible for administration of organization's 401(k) plan and other deferred compensation plan.

Ensure tax compliance and preparation of tax returns for all entities

Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit including preparing draft of year-end financial statements and disclosures

Oversight of Membership Services Department consisting of membership dues processing, and customer service.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience gathering, evaluating, presenting, and reporting financial information to executive teams

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and non-profit tax issues

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

Current CPA certificate

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in the accounting field, preferably in a nonprofit organization
